2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
¾ teaspoon white sugar
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon ground dark pepper
½ cup weighty cream
1 tablespoon spread
Heat olive oil in a pot over medium intensity. Add onion and cook until clear, around 5 minutes, blending the garlic in during the latest possible second.
Add undrained tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper; mix to consolidate as it reaches boiling point. Keep on bubbling until a large portion of the fluid dissipates, around 5 minutes.
Eliminate from the intensity. Pour in cream and spread; mix to consolidate.
Get back to the oven and stew over low intensity for 5 additional minutes.
